A reading from the holy Gospel according to Mark 2:18-22
The disciples of John and of the Pharisees were accustomed to fast.

John was standing with two of his disciples, and as he watched Jesus walk by, he said, “Behold, the Lamb of God.” The two disciples heard what he said and followed Jesus.
When Jesus returned to Capernaum after some days, it became known that he was at home.
A leper came to him and kneeling down begged him and said, “If you wish, you can make me clean.” Moved with pity, he stretched out his hand, touched the leper, and said to him, “I do will it.
On leaving the synagogue Jesus entered the house of Simon and Andrew with James and John.
Jesus came to Capernaum with his followers, and on the sabbath he entered the synagogue and taught.
This is what John the Baptist proclaimed: “One mightier than I is coming after me.
When Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, in the days of King Herod, behold, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying, “Where is the newborn king of the Jews?
When Jesus began his ministry he was about thirty years of age.
