A reading from the holy Gospel according to John 11:45-56

Jesus said to the Jews: “Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever keeps my word will never see death.” So the Jews said to him, “Now we are sure that you are possessed.
Jesus said to those Jews who believed in him, “If you remain in my word, you will truly be my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” They answered him, “We are descendants of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone.
Each year Jesus’ parents went to Jerusalem for the feast of Passover, and when he was twelve years old, they went up according to festival custom.
Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.
[Now a man was ill, Lazarus from Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha.
Some in the crowd who heard these words of Jesus said, “This is truly the Prophet.” Others said, “This is the Christ.” But others said, “The Christ will not come from Galilee, will he?
Jesus moved about within Galilee; he did not wish to travel in Judea, because the Jews were trying to kill him.
Jesus said to the Jews: “If I testify on my own behalf, my testimony is not true.
