On a sabbath Jesus went to dine at the home of one of the leading Pharisees, and the people there were observing him carefully.
Jesus told his disciples this parable: “A man going on a journey called in his servants and entrusted his possessions to them.
Herod was the one who had John the Baptist arrested and bound in prison on account of Herodias, the wife of his brother Philip, whom he had married.
Jesus said to his disciples: “Stay awake!

Jesus passed through towns and villages, teaching as he went and making his way to Jerusalem.
Jesus spoke to the crowds and to his disciples, saying, “The scribes and the Pharisees have taken their seat on the chair of Moses.
